Mail Room

I have had a day and it isn't even lunch yet! I went to get the mail at the posted time (11:30). I had to get two screaming boys into the car, and drive 15 minutes to get there...needless to say I was kinda stressed when I got there. Well, at the same time I was driving up to get the mail, the mail clerk was driving up with the mail. I was SOOO mad. I drove right to the 41st Signal Battalion's main building. I wanted to go tell the person in charge that I didn't appreciate this. I mean I was in the military, and a cook at that...if there was a posted time, the soldiers expected us to be open, and have food ready. What is the difference? Okay to continue my story...I walked in got directions to the S1 where the person in charged worked. I had gone over my speech in my head, but I guess the uniform still makes me nervous. I just blurted out, "the mail wasn't there on time." They came up with several excuses why it was late, I got really upset and the tears started running. I walked out of there as quickly as I could with two children in tow. While I was putting Caleb and Jarrett in the car, a nice lady came over to me and asked if I was okay. Come to find out that it was the Battalion Commanders wife. OH MY GOSH!!! I was so embarrassed. I went back to again check my mail because it had been 45 minutes later. Again NO MAIL...so here came the tears. Who showed up knocking at my window...THE BATTALION COMMANDER!!! Okay, so being nervous, already crying, and embarrassed, I just blubbered that the mail was late and I couldn't get my package. He walked in and got my package for me. This was horrible. They are very nice people, and I know Johnnie will be known in the battalion as the man with the crazy wife. Maybe with this ordeal, the mail will get there on time for once!!
